07 May - Dempsey Joins IRUPA Hall of Fame
On Wednesday, May 12 at the eighth annual Bord Gais Energy Irish Rugby Union Players' Association Awards, Leinster and Ireland full-back/winger Girvan Dempsey will be inducted into the IRUPA Hall of Fame. Girvan Dempsey will join other Irish rugby greats such as Mick Galwey, Anthony Foley, David Humphreys and Keith Wood in the IRUPA Hall of Fame.

Educated at Terenure College, Dempsey won his first Ireland senior cap as a replacement against Georgia in November 1998 and made an immediate impact, scoring two tries.

A former Ireland Under-21 and 'A' cap, Dempsey's senior career will probably be most remembered for his try in the left corner at Twickenham in 2004 which helped Ireland on their way to securing their first Triple Crown since 1985.

Capped for his country 82 times, Dempsey played in two Rugby World Cups and was part of the Ireland team that won Triple Crowns in 2004, 2006 and 2007, the latter season including a memorable try against England at Croke Park.

He made his debut for Leinster back in September 1996 and has been capped 174 times for the province.

His achievements with Leinster also include the inaugural Celtic League title in 2001, a Magners League title in 2008 and he played an important role in Leinster winning their first Heineken Cup last season.

On hearing of his induction, Dempsey, who will retire at the end of the season, said: "I am honoured to be accepting this award and joining the former players already inducted into the Bord Gais Energy IRUPA Hall of Fame.

"This award means an awful lot to me especially as it comes from players I played with and against during my career."

05 May - Girvan Dempsey Announces Retirement
Leinster's Girvan Dempsey has announced his retirement from the game at the end of the season.

The Terenure College full-back is in line to make his 175th appearance this weekend as Leinster bid to maintain their position at the top of the Magners League.

He made his debut in September 1996 and he has scored 32 career tries and kicked 35 points to date.

5 March - Terenure v Greystones

A Leinster derby at Lakelands Park on Saturday with mid-table Terenure hosting a Greystones side that seem destined for Division 3 next season.
A win for the north Wicklow side would be a surprise and they would still be at the bottom of the table.
'Nure have won their last two games - a real scalp against Bective and an impressive 19-point haul against Highfield. They should bag the points again at Lakelands.

24 February - AIB League Round Up

AIB LEAGUE: DIVISION 2 RESULTS: Saturday, February 20

Bective Rangers 16 Terenure College 21, Donnybrook
Bruff 27 Corinthians 0, Kilballyowen Park
Clonakilty 34 Old Crescent 13, Shannonvale Cross
De La Salle Palmerston 30 UCD 20, Kirwan Park
Greystones 13 Lansdowne 52, Dr. Hickey Park
Highfield 5 Dublin University 8, Woodleigh Park
Malone 32 Old Wesley 9, Gibson Park
Thomond 23 Belfast Harlequins 12, Liam Fitzgerald Park

"Terenure, who have two games in hand and could yet force their way into the play-off reckoning, showed their battling qualities as they got the better of Bective on a 21-16 scoreline at Donnybrook, while a free-scoring clash at Kirwan Park went DLSP's way when they overcame UCD 30-20."

24 February - Terenure v Highfield

Terenure travel to Highfield this Saturday in a re-scheduled AIB League match on the back of a good win in Donnybrook last Saturday. With two games in hand we are sitting in 11th position but taking at least six points from those two games will leave us in fifth and challenging for a top 4 place. Highfield are sitting in 15th place having won three of their 11 games since the start of the campaign. Terenure will be hoping to turn around a few narrow losses in previous week to get a decent run going and there is no reason why we can't have another victory on Saturday. The last meeting of the two sides in the AIB League took place four years ago with Terenure running out 16 – 13 victors in Cork. Highfield have never beaten Terenure in the league so the omens are good for Saturday and another 3 possibly four points.
